"Rooftops" was a different kind of read for me. First, there are no chapters, the book is simply divided up into three months. Then it is written almost in a diary style, where you get snippets of events during that month. It also covers a short period of time, the three months following the graduation from college of three friends. For me, Erick was not likable from the start, Rhys was likable but also a bit of a flake, and Joey was very likable and also seemed the most real. Some of the events these guys go through seemed a little far fetched for me at times. Also there were some side characters introduced that didn't really seem to go anywhere. Having said all of that, I have to say this was a very good first effort by the author. I was drawn into this story and finished it in one day which is rare for me to do.Product details

Rooftops (Audible Audio Edition) John Wiley Kris Price Books Reviews
In recent memory, it has become difficult to find dialog between young adults that rings true. John Wiley seems to have that down in his first book, Rooftops. He convinces the reader that they are listening in or real life and it's a little like voyeurism, though in a good way. Also, he manages to convey the meaning of romance for both straight and gay couples and how it can differ between these worlds. It's an impressive first effort and I'm a little envious. Keep it up, our 'barrista-with-a-soul'!
I have to start by saying that I usually don't read this type of book, but I'm glad I did. The author totally nails the dialog and understanding of this generation as you follow his characters through their adventures. It was very refreshing to see a fresh approach to love and friendship. I will be looking forward to more of Mr. Wiley's work.
Loved it! Was sweet and funny!
For a first effort, I thought the book was amazing. The characters were real and the story line was well developed. I was interested from beginning to end. I hope this author will write more books. I will surely buy them.
This is a very good book. When I read the previous review, I decided to purchase the book. This book kept my interest and made me feel like I was on the journey too. Bravo John Wiley! I can' t until your next adventure in book number 2.
great book on the ups and downs of being yourself and finding acceptance with friends.....
An excellent start! For a first time effort Mr. Wiley has hit a homer. If he continues in this vein, we can expect more good reads from him. It was a delightful experience and I enjoyed it completely. He stuck to his characters and did not get hung up on the surrounding background and detail. If not L.A., it could have been in any city and been just as effective. His characters were believable and well developed. His use of emotion was right on and allowed you to see what was going on clearly. It has a happy ending and that usually leaves the reader in a good place. Keep up the good work, John. This one is a winner!
