Lonnie Hicks, in a work of historical fiction, gives an alternative version of the birth of good and evil with the release of his new novel, The Gospel According to Lilith Book One. Hicks adapts his historical fiction novel around God's wife Lilith and her bewitchment by Lucifer, God's most favored angel. A child is conceived of this union. God construes this as betrayal triggering an all-out war in heaven. At the end of the celestial bloodshed, Lucifer, Lilith, and all the angels who sided with them were transmogrified into hideous beasts and banished to the yet volcanically violent Earth. There ensues a titanic struggle between God, Lucifer and Lilith for the souls of human kind. Thus begins an engrossing retelling of creation, from the development of Earth to the evolution of humanity, to Jesus' role on earth--between the values of the the old testament God, Lucifer and those of Lilith. In The Gospel According to Lilith, Hicks' mythical exploration of the origins of good and evil will lead readers to discover a fresh, bold, point of view regarding God, the Creation, and even Lucifer. This is the Great Story Never Told where all the dots in the bible are connected, where the back story for some of the most momentous events human history are revealed. A bold, astounding piece of work.

I thought this book would be very interesting, but I am struggling just to get through it. There are so, so many mistakes (punctuation, grammar, spacing) that it is very distracting. Instead of a regular book mark, I have a pen because I've been circling all the mistakes. I am far from being an English major, so if I am able to notice such mistakes, why didn't the author or editor?I know my next comment may be based strictly on my own personal reading desires and use of words, but the author uses a certain "voice" that I don't like. Words are reversed in order. He also likes to use the word "minion" A LOT.
I wouldn't recommend this book; I was looking for a HISTORICAL account after watching a show on the History channel about the possibility of a woman named Lilith that was purposefully left out of the Bible...there is no "historical" to this fiction.

The Gospel According to Lilith Lonnie Hicks 9780984348633 Books Reviews
"The Gospel According to Lilith" by Lonnie Hicks, is a book that challenges what you have been told about good and evil. In this book, major events from the Bible are explained from the point of view of Lilith. Lilith was the most enchanting arch-angel who was exiled along with Lucifer by God. Some of the events included are the creation of Adam and Eve as well as why Jesus was crucified.
I am not usually big on books dealing with religion, but this one was very different. The book is written from the point of view of Lilith, and she is telling the "truth" behind the stories we have all been taught over the years. This is one historical fiction that I am glad to have read.
As I get older I'm enjoying the readings of religion and the various stories being told by all authors. Probably because I like to see how they will present their side of the story. Whether it has to do with an angel, good and evil, Satan and God there is always a battle. Isn't this why we believe and question our religion and faith so much? The character Lilith is the same, his is a story told from her point of view and you get wrap into the events. The scriptures and versus of the bible all have meaning and as they are tied into the story you remind yourself to be open so you can see it honestly from someone else's point of view. This book titled "The Gospel According to Lilith" by author Lonnie Hicks catches you from the beginning and for that I applaud the author.
Of course it`s historic, it's religion the oldest story and test of time for everyone. Who wouldn't love the chance or opportunity to sit with God and say "So what really happened that night?" As we all grow older believing in our faiths we know he'll tell us when we get there. For now we're in our temporary homes and reading the various authors as they tell the story and challenge our thoughts and beliefs. This was a good read.
Although I am not, traditionally, a huge fan of historical fiction, I have to say that the premise of The Gospel According to Lilith had a premise that completely grabbed me! I had to read it.
I have always been fascinated with the Bible and how earth/man came to be. Everytime I read a story about God and what happened during those times,my imagination always starts going wild with questions and what ifs? I have always wondered just how much of what we now believe to be the events of that time have actually been distorted and revisionned over the course of our history.
The Gospel According to Lilith challenges does exactly that - it challenges the beliefs that we have been "told" since the beginning of time. What if good and evil really was about God and those he holds dear betraying him - forcing him to choose sides and setting up the ultimate war for all times?
I loved this book. Written in a down to earth yet beatiful way, the author tells his story with conviction and weaves a story that is completely believeable and very, very scary. I found myself being completely caught up with the storyline and I found myself constantly thinking "yeah, that could have happened".
Truly enjoyed reading this one.
